Man dead in apparent murder-suicide knew about wife’s affair, cops say

The 46-year-old man who shot his wife to death in Manhattan’s Financial District and then killed himself knew she was having an affair with another man — and carried their marriage certificate with him during the killing, police sources said.

Xin Yu confronted his wife, Min Ai, 40, at Morris St. and Trinity Place around 9:20 a.m. Monday and shot her in the chest, police said.

The spurned husband then pulled her head up from the city sidewalk where she was lying and shot her a second time before turning the gun on himself, the sources said.

Yu was in possession of the couple’s marriage certificate at the time, the sources said.

Yu’s address was listed as Toronto, police said. His wife had a Manhattan address.
