SUV left running with baby boy inside stolen from outside Southwest Side convenience store

Chicago police were searching for an SUV stolen from outside a Marquette Park neighborhood convenience store Monday afternoon with a 7-month-old boy inside after a woman left the car running.

A woman told police she left the gray SUV running in the 2700 block of West 71st Street about 12:45 p.m. while she went into a convenience store, according to a police media notification. The child had been left inside the car, according to police.

When the woman returned to where she had left the SUV, it was gone, and investigators found that someone had driven it off, heading north on California Avenue, according to police.

Area One detectives were investigating. A police spokesperson did not have information on whether the SUV had been found by a little before 4 p.m. or any information on the license plate of the SUV.
