Netflix’s Barbarians premiered this past weekend and quickly jumped the ranks to become one of the streaming platform’s Top 10 shows. And with great viewership comes great Google-ability: Everyone is obsessed with Thusnelda and wants to know who she is IRL.

Barbarians is a six-episode series about a real battle between several Germanic tribes and the Romans in the Teutoburg Forest in the year 9 A.D. It’s also about a young, blossoming barbarian, Thusnelda, played by Jeanne Goursaud, who is the daughter of a Cheruscan prince and also happens to be secret luvvuhs with Folkwin (David Schütter), a warrior fighting against the oppression of the Romans. Thusnelda devises a plan to take down the Romans, culminating in a bloody battle that won independence for the Germanic tribes.

WHO IS JEANNE GOURSAUD?

24-year-old Jeanne Goursaud grew up near Hamburg, Germany and currently lives in Berlin. Early in her career, she was the face of bebe young care, a cosmetics brand owned by Johnson & Johnson. Barbarians’ Thusnelda is based on a real person, and, in a recent interview, Goursaud said she identified with Thusnelda’s “sense of justice,” which is evident in her political posts to social media.

WHAT ELSE HAS JEANNE GOURSAUD STARRED IN?

Prior to Barbarians, Goursaud starred in the 2018 Clint Eastwood film alongside Alek Skarlatos, Judy Greer, and Anthony Sadler. Her first feature film was 2017’s Bullyparade: The Movie, an adaptation of one of Germany’s most popular sketch comedy shows. She was also a star of the German TV series Der Lehrer from 2017-2019 and the Australian-German series In Your Dreams.

HOW ELSE CAN I GET TO KNOW JEANNE GOURSAUD?

Well, there’s Instagram, of course. But then there’s also this wonderful ad from her teenaged years when she was the face of bebe young care:
